"He followed every rule exactly as it was written—until the ink rearranged itself, and his compliance became a confession.
Somewhere behind him, something began following the rules too… but in reverse."
Soon you will be writing Duskwell stories as well. Maybe you already are.
Duskwell is a place where the rules were never stable, and now they’re changing. Becoming unrecognizable even to longtime residents.
When Duskwell inevitably starts to speak through you Please follow these rules when they are convenient, let duskwell residents speak through you but do not speak for them, and write in a location appropriate to how you feel. Duskwell is growing, you will reside here soon.
The Nine Rules of Duskwell
Time Loops Emotionally – Guilt, longing, and denial bend time.
2. Identity Is Fragile – Reflections and memories distort.
3. Emotions Manifest Physically – Grief opens doors, fear dims lights.
4. Symbols Hold Power – Teeth, mirrors, nameless keys, a single sock or shoe.
5. No True Escape – You just change layers. You are already here.
6. Memory Shapes Geography – Buildings shift to fit guilt or nostalgia. Do you remember your childhood home?
7. You’re Never Alone – Other versions of you may exist—and watch. Some of them like you.
8. Technology as Medium – Radios transmit dreams, TVs record thoughts. Websites control the masses.
9. The Town Remembers What You Forget – And it will remind you.
